3D Digital CMM Scanning

3D scanning with a CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) is a method used to create a detailed digital representation of a physical object by capturing its geometry. This process combines the precision of a CMM with the capabilities of 3D scanning to provide highly accurate 3D measurements and reverse engineering of highly complex machine’s parts or tools.

Total freedom of movement

The combination of the arm-free handheld MetraSCAN 3D scanning system & the C-Track dual-camera sensor forms a unique duo that generates the most accurate measurements in the laboratory or on the shop-floor.

When combined with the HandyPROBE Next, this complete and powerful inspection solution combines probing and scanning to increase the reliability, speed, accuracy and versatility of your measurement processes.

Compared with any type of 3D scanner with probing capability (e.g. arm/scanner, laser tracker/scanner or optical tracker/scanner), the MetraSCAN 3D solution allows total freedom of movement for significantly increased product and measurement quality at an affordable price.

Accuracy & Speed

MetraSCAN 3D is the most accurate combined scanning and probing solution on the market today. Creaform’s TRUaccuracy technology ensures highly accurate measurements, regardless of the operator’s skill or the measurement environment – instability, vibration, thermal variation, etc.

Scanning up to 1,800,000 million points per second. The system is handheld and armless, so it is easy to learn and quick to use.

Dynamic Referencing & Auto Alignment

The coordinate system can quite literally be locked onto the objects being measured, thereby eliminating the effects of moving the parts or the vibrations of a working shop floor. The alignment function removes the need for manual, operator dependent alignment, drastically reducing the root cause of most measuring errors

Scan shiny!

The MetraSCAN3D incorporates 14 Red or up to 30 Blue laser crosses which can scan any surface finish, including highly chromed parts, without any surface preparation. What’s more, unlike any other scanning devices, it does it quickly and accurately, producing a high quality scan surface without lots of noise.

Portable and Flexible

Compared with other scanning systems, which have a fixed measuring volume, MetraSCAN 3D allows a greater measuring flexibility by easily and dynamically extending the measuring volume with no loss of accuracy due to conventional leapfrog methods. The 100% portability of the MetraSCAN 3D makes it possible to inspect or reverse engineer parts and assemblies with unequalled precision, mobility and flexibility – no matter where the measurement takes place.

Technical Characteristics

SRSC Ltd are using for our clients the best available model of the Creaform’s CMM device, the MetraSCAN Black EliteTM, in a combination with the Handy Probe gauge and VXelement software for converting scanned 3D model into the 3D design software Solid Works to make the final technical drawings, accordingly.
